We provision IP over IEEE 802.3-based full-duplex non-circuit switched services across a diversified, fiber-rich backbone from your premises to our data centers. This means you get true packet-switched Ethernet connectivity with simultaneous bidirectional transmission, not legacy circuit-switched connections. Our network architecture eliminates single points of failure by provisioning redundant fiber pathways and multi-carrier diversity at the transport layer. Each connection is engineered for full-duplex operation, allowing you to maximize throughput without the latency penalties of half-duplex or circuit-switched alternatives.

Most carriers offer N+1 redundancy within their own network—essentially a backup circuit from the same provider. Our approach is fundamentally different: we own the infrastructure and provision your service across multiple independent fiber routes and carrier connections simultaneously. This true transport diversity means you're not dependent on a single carrier's backbone or routing decisions. We use dynamic routing protocols (BGP) to optimize your traffic across these diverse paths in real-time, ensuring that carrier outages, fiber cuts, or congestion on one path automatically trigger rerouting without application-level awareness.

We support both static routing and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) for complete control over your traffic engineering. Static routing gives you predictable, fixed paths when you need deterministic behavior. BGP enables dynamic, intelligent path selection based on real-time network conditions—you can influence routing decisions through AS-PATH prepending, community tags, and prefix advertisements. Your IP address space is included, giving you full control over your routing policies and multi-homed architecture without vendor lock-in.

Failover is automatic and transparent at the IP layer. Because we provision multiple fiber pathways with redundant equipment at each end, detection and rerouting happens in milliseconds—well below application timeout thresholds. BGP convergence ensures that if a primary path fails, alternate routes become active immediately. There's no manual intervention, no DNS propagation delays, and no client-side awareness of the failover event. Your connections maintain session state throughout the transition, delivering truly seamless redundancy.

Internet access demarcation is the defined boundary where your private network transitions to public internet routing. We manage this boundary through a dedicated network interface device that serves as your demarcation point. This architecture gives you critical control and visibility—all your traffic flows through our managed infrastructure first, allowing us to apply consistent security policies, traffic engineering, and optimization before any data reaches the public internet. Without this demarcation, you'd be exposed to every routing decision made by upstream carriers.

Traditional ISP handoff typically means a direct connection to their router, where you have limited visibility or control over your outbound traffic. Our approach creates a managed demarcation point—a dedicated interface device under your control that sits between your network and the public internet. This means you retain full visibility into what's leaving your network, you can implement your own routing policies, and you're not subject to the ISP's default routing decisions. You own the demarcation; we simply provide the infrastructure and manage the connection quality.

Yes. Your dedicated network interface device supports both static routing and BGP, giving you complete control over how traffic exits your network to the public internet. You can implement AS-PATH prepending, community-based routing, prefix filtering, and traffic engineering policies. This means you can steer certain traffic types or destinations through specific carriers, implement failover hierarchies, or optimize for latency, cost, or redundancy on a per-prefix basis—all at your demarcation point.

All traffic destined for other Fusion Networks customers or infrastructure stays within our private, managed IP network and never touches the public internet. This provides natural segmentation and reduces exposure to internet-based threats for internal communications. It also means that traffic between your locations or to our data centers bypasses public internet congestion and routing variability entirely—you get predictable, optimized performance for your most critical internal flows.

We support both static routing and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), giving you flexibility based on your architecture and requirements. Static routing is ideal when you need deterministic, predictable traffic paths—you define specific routes and they remain constant regardless of network conditions. BGP is the choice for dynamic, intelligent routing: it automatically adjusts paths based on real-time network health, allows you to influence routing decisions through your own policies, and enables seamless failover to alternate paths when primary routes degrade. For most enterprises managing multiple paths or carriers, BGP delivers superior availability and performance.

BGP enables you to advertise your IP prefixes across multiple paths simultaneously and control which path carries which traffic. Combined with our diverse transport architecture, BGP allows real-time optimization: if one carrier path experiences congestion or latency, BGP automatically shifts traffic to healthier paths without application awareness. You can use communities, AS-PATH prepending, and local preference to implement sophisticated traffic engineering—steering critical applications through premium paths while using backup routes for best-effort traffic. The result is dynamic, intelligent load balancing across your entire network.

We include IP address space with your service. You have the flexibility to either use addresses we provide or bring your own IP space. If you bring your own, you maintain full ownership and portability—we simply announce it via BGP on your behalf. If you use our address space, we handle the overhead of IP management while you retain the ability to filter, advertise, or withdraw prefixes based on your routing policies. Either way, you have complete control over how your address space is announced to the internet.

Static routing gives you precise control over which traffic takes which path, but it requires manual configuration changes to respond to network events. For simple, two-path architectures (primary and backup), static routing works well—you define primary routes and fallback routes, and your equipment handles the failover. However, static routing lacks the intelligence of BGP: it can't automatically detect path degradation or optimize based on real-time conditions. Most enterprises find that BGP's dynamic capabilities—especially for multi-carrier or multi-path environments—deliver better availability and performance with less operational overhead.

Seamless failover means your connection automatically switches to a backup path in milliseconds—fast enough that your applications and users never notice the transition. Our architecture achieves this through site-specific fiber circuit redundancy at each client location: every site has multiple independent fiber connections to our data centers. When one circuit degrades or fails, traffic automatically reroutes to an alternate circuit without dropping packets or disrupting sessions. This happens at the IP layer, so there's no application-level awareness, no DNS propagation delay, and no manual intervention required.

Our data centers are equipped with BGP peering to multiple upstream internet connections, creating true diversity at the egress point. This means that when traffic leaves your local network and reaches our data center, it can exit to the internet through multiple independent carriers and paths. Combined with the redundant fiber circuits at your location, this creates end-to-end diversity: if your primary circuit fails, traffic reroutes locally; if an upstream carrier path degrades, BGP automatically shifts traffic to healthier internet exits. You get redundancy at both ends of the network.

Failover is completely transparent. When a circuit fails, detection happens in milliseconds (through BFD or similar mechanisms), and traffic immediately shifts to the backup circuit. Your IP addresses, routing, and session state all persist—there's no re-establishment of connections, no timeout events, and no service interruption. For stateful protocols (TCP, UDP), sessions maintain continuity throughout the failover. For applications with built-in redundancy awareness (like load balancers or SIP servers), failover triggers immediately without waiting for timeouts. The entire process is seamless to your end users.

Full redundancy is built into our network architecture, not an optional feature or premium service. Every client location has site-specific fiber circuit redundancy as standard, and every data center is equipped with multiple BGP-peered internet connections. The cost of this redundancy is included in your service pricing. You don't pay extra for failover capability or backup circuits—it's how we engineer every connection. This means true enterprise-grade redundancy is accessible without the typical carrier markups for backup or failover services.
